The old school ripper deck!! need I say more?

This classic design is one of the coolest looking decks from the old school days of wide skateboards and big wheels!

Timeless design and shape, love the bold purple colors and the elephant is awesome!

Old School Mike Vallely Elephant Deck

In 1987, Vallely turned pro and Powell Peralta released his first pro model skateboard. After an attempt to release Vallely’s pro model with graphics of a large bug, it was later changed to the now well-known “elephant” graphics. Vallely stated that the idea for the graphics came to him after watching a National Geographic television special about elephants. The graphics on Mike’s “Elephant” board were drawn by legendary skateboard artist V. Courtland Johnson.

In 1989, Vallely quit Powell Peralta. At the time Powell Peralta was the biggest skateboarding brand in the world which sponsored the best and most talented skaters. After quitting, Vallely helped form the small skater run company called World Industries with Steve Rocco, Jesse Martinez and Rodney Mullen. While riding for World Industries he helped create a newly shaped skateboard deck, which eventually became the industry standard. The model included rounding both the tail and nose, rather than rounded nose and straight edged tail.

Animal Chin

I’ve been watching way too many horror movies lately, tired of action movies and sci-fi, I decided to look up some old skate vids I had not seen in a very long time. Which one could I find? I had looked for Animal Chin for years hoping it would come out on DVD, and it finally has.

This is clearly one of the best skate dvds you can get. I’m not talking the latest high energy paced “extreme skateboarding” video. I’m talking about old school fun, skater style. Back in the 80′s, man, this is where it was at. I miss those days. You youngsters’ll never know the feeling of being a “skater” back then.

Animal Chin

Join Caballero, Lance Mountain, Tony Hawk, Mike McGill, Tommy Guerrero and take a walk through the old days with the Bones Grigade.

All I wanted when I was young, was the “Have you seen him?” Animal Chin sticker. And in this special edition you get one! I’m a sucker for the extra things that come in special edition DVD packages. So check this one out if you’re building your skater vid collection. Old or young, you need this one for sure.

Includes a full length Bones Brigade audio commentary version of The Search for Animal Chin, featuring Stacy, Steve, Mike, Lance, Tony and Tommy. Includes the entertaining new 44 Minute Documentary The Making of Animal Chin, produced and directed by Don Hoffman in collaboration with Stacy Peralta. Plus, an audio section featuring Bones Brigade video tunes with an Easter egg full of surprise additions. Video coverage of a special presentation honoring Steve Caballero‘s 25th Anniversary with Powell Skateboards at ASR.

I’m glad they are throwing in never before seen footage too.

2 DVD disks, jam packed with special features, original, never before seen footage, outtakes, music, special events and extras.
Includes the original version of The Search for Animal Chin.

It’s been a long time since my old Animal Chin VHS needed to be replaced, and I am glad to be able to replace it with something as cool as this 2-DVD special edition Animal Chin.

Old Caballero

Since I started posting more entries about the old school skateboards that came out when I was young, some even before my time, I decided to post the original Caballero pig decks.. I posted the black and red bats & dragon Cab Street … “Pigs” are what us old timers call the fat decks like this…

Old School Steve Caballero

(Left) This is one of the first commercial Steve Cabellero graphics used (on the left) This skateboard has gone for $2,200 on eBay in the past.

(Right) The skateboard on the right is a redo of the original graphic, you can see they made his name more legible by moving the dragon up a little off the disc and revealing his name more in the graphic… awesome skateboards from the past.
