Since I started posting more entries about the old school skateboards that came out when I was young, some even before my time, I decided to post the original Caballero pig decks.. I posted the black and red bats & dragon Cab Street … “Pigs” are what us old timers call the fat decks like this…

(Left) This is one of the first commercial Steve Cabellero graphics used (on the left) This skateboard has gone for $2,200 on eBay in the past.
(Right) The skateboard on the right is a redo of the original graphic, you can see they made his name more legible by moving the dragon up a little off the disc and revealing his name more in the graphic… awesome skateboards from the past.

After posting the cover of Disposable recently, I realized I should post the old pink/red Lance Mountain that seems to be one of the rarest and hard to find colors of old Lance Mountain decks.

It’s been reported that thic deck has hit the $900 range on eBay in the past and will likely only go up in price as the years go on.

Being a huge skateboard deck art fan, when I first stumbled across Disposable: A History of Skateboard Art
- I thought to myself - “this is the book I thought would never come out.” Almost as if, I had been waiting for it forever.
Take a look at some of the historic skateboard deck art in this book…

Another skateboard deck with art I can picture from my youth is the old school John Grigley. When this deck came out I can remember I tried to draw the face on paper to make a stencil for my book covers! Those were the days…

When I was young I became inspired by Mark Gonzales not only to skate, but his deck artwork always was cool to me. Here is what he is doing now, and it has come a long way since the old Gonz Vision decks.
Check out the latest Gonz Art decks:

The Gonz has come a long way, through a few ups and downs and is now putting out his own stuff via Krooked Skateboarding, check it out when you have the time and never forget that skaters are artists too.

Here is the wicked Bam Margera Element Skeleton Guitar Deck

Ships complete in an Element custom Bam guitar box. Element
is a skateboard company that was established in Atlanta, Georgia in 1992 as Underworld Element. The company later dropped the “Underworld” from its name and became known as just Element. The founder and president of the company, Johnny Schillereff, invented the logo as being the life of natural wood and being “one” with the board. The Element logo is a stick figure style tree inside a circle, often white in a red background. In some renditions, the logo is also circled by the words: Wind, Water, Fire, and Earth, the four basic elements.

This isn’t the oldest of the Lance Mountain decks out there, but I still like the design. Made by Powell Peralta

Compared to some of the new Tony Hawk designs, I think the old Tony Hawk decks look better.
